Michelin award winning restaurant Circa shuts its doors

Words: Ellen Kenny

The award-winning restaurant Circa was forced to close due to the prices increases and staff shortages.

Terenure-based restaurant Circa has announced that it is permanently closing. In a statement on social media, Circa owner Ross Duffy said they were forced to closed due to “the seemingly constant price increases facing us from all sides and staff shortages.”

“We have loved feeding you, wining you and, in general, having you with us since we opened.”

Circa opened in 2019 as a modern bistro with a laid-back vibe. It was added to the Michelin Guide in 2019 and was praised for its “flavourful, globally influenced dishes”. Other Dublin restaurants on the Michelin Guide include Locks, Orwell Road and Host.

The restaurant was also awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand award in October 2019 for its affordable prices and high quality food. Circa is the first Michelin-award restaurant to close down in Dublin.

“We are so proud of all we have achieved in our little part of Dublin,” Circa’s statement said, “It has been a very interesting four years and we are grateful to you all.”

“We would like to thank all of our staff, past and present, for all your dedication and hard work, all our friends, family and suppliers who have helped and supported us over the years.”

“To all our customers, thank you so much for everything, for embracing us and welcoming us to D6W. We will see you another time.”
