New Albums: Little Simz, Kelela, USHER & more

Words: Dylan Murphy

With the endless onslaught of new music every Friday it’s hard to keep up with all the new releases. We’ve curated the essential new albums and projects out today for you to check out.

Little Simz – Drop 7

Little Simz’ care packages are quickly becoming iconic. The loose drops in between albums are the perfect check in with listeners to showcase where her head is at sonically whilst we wait for a fully fledged album. Drop 7 takes a bit of a left turn with Simz flowing over club sounds and experimenting with Brazilian funk, dark techno and more. The instrumentals come courtesy of Jakwob. The EP follows Drop 6 and also comes nearly 10 years after Drop 1.

Shygirl – Club Shy

Shygirl’s new EP Club Shy lnads via Because Music with collaborations with the likes of Boys Noize, Empress Of, Cosha, Karma Kid and more.

USHER – COMING HOME

USHER’s ninth album features artists like 21 Savage, Burna Boy and Summer Walker and comes ahead of his Superbowl half time performance.

Kelela – RAVE:N, the Remixes

Kelela’s Raven was one of our favourite albums of last year and the trailblazing artist has returned with a full remix project inviting reworkings from the likes of LSDXOXO, Loraine James and more.

Mk.gee – Two Star & The Dream Police

Having kicked off the rollout for his debut record with the spellbinding ‘How many miles’ and ‘Candy’, Mk.gee’s full project has finally dropped. It comes after an period of artistic development across a trio of EPs – Fool, Museum of Contradiction and Pronounced McGee. Tap in.
