New Albums: Lucy Blue, Scuti & Rich Brian

Words: Dylan Murphy

With the endless onslaught of new music every Friday it’s hard to keep up with all the new releases. We’ve curated the essential new albums and projects out today for you to check out.

Scuti – Intoxication EP

20-year-old South London native Scuti follows up her debut EP This Is Skoo with 18 minutes of commanding new music. Intoxication EP sees the fast-rising spitter make good on the promise of her breakout hit ‘Skoowup’.

Léonie Barbot – Communication

Debut EP from Parisian artist Léonie Barbot produced by both Darius and Jay Prince.

Lucy Blue – Suburban Hollywood

Irish singer and songwriter Lucy Blue’s stock is steadily on the rise. She’s shared her Suburban Hollywood EP after a string a strong singles in 2021.

Describing the EP in her own words Lucy says, “Suburban Hollywood is my celebration of the ordinary. I wanted to create a world that in a way romanticises everyday life and people. I think there’s pieces of Hollywood everywhere if you look whether it be in people or places, taxi drivers or pilots. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of Hollywood and what it means to people. The way we glamorise things and icons. Gift shops that sell tacky souvenirs of anything and everyone. I’ve always been so fascinated by it. When I think of suburban Hollywood I think of streets I grew up on and people I knew. It feels like a suburban version of Hollywood. I want to write songs that celebrate that and those type of people.

Rich Brian – Brightside

Short and sweet, 88Rising’s Rich Brian comes through with a four track care package to kick off the new year.

Curtisy & D*mp – EP OF SORTS

Fresh from a sparring session with Ahmed, With Love. on ‘Men on a Mission’, Curtisy is back with a short and sweet eight minute EP with D*mp.

Elsewhere on District: 17 albums we can’t wait for in 2022.
