Words: Dylan Murphy
With the endless onslaught of new music every Friday it’s hard to keep up with all the new releases. We’ve curated the essential new albums and projects out today for you to check out.
PinkPantheress – to hell with it
Finding her feet on TikTok, PinkPantheress is showing you can make snappy music that doesn’t compromise on emotion. Her first mixtape has landed and it’s 18 minutes of future pop goodness.
Young Thug – Punk
Earlier this week, Young Thug demolished a Rolls-Royce at his listening party to ‘celebrate’ the release of his album Punk. At worst it’s a totally out of touch move from a rapper indulging in hip hop’s obsession with consumption, at best it’s an ill-thought out attempt at viral marketing. Whatever you think about it, it got people’s attention ahead of one of this year’s most anticipated albums.
Gangster Doodles – Gangster Music Vol.2
The second edition of Gangster Doodle’s compilation series features DÂM-FUNK, Lil B, Black Milk and more.
Nuxsense – Time on Earth
Nuxsense rapper luthorist teams up with fellow crew member sivv across ten tracks with Uwmami coming through with a feature on ‘Cosmic Dust’.
Mac Miller – Faces
Mac Miller’s estate have posthumously brought his iconic 2014 mixtape Faces to streaming services. One of the darker projects in his discography this move holds significant meaning for diehard fans and for the unfamiliar it’s worth listening the way it was designed to – with the blinds closed, in a quiet room from front to back.
Joy Crookes – Skin
The debut album from Joy Crookes has been in the works for a minute and comes after a series of pop up shows across London and a number of impressive singles and videos.
LIL UGLY MANE – VOLCANIC BIRD ENEMY
Dropping out of nowhere, LIL UGLY MANE’s latest album is available on Bandcamp, where you can also get his whole discography for just under €10.
Sainte – Out the Blue
There’s few smoother in the game right now than Sainte and he’s followed up his Local MVP with a nwe project that features Knucks, A2, Miraa May and more.
Zack Fox – shut the fuck up talking to me
Comedian and rapper Zack Fox isn’t playing around on his debut album. He’s linked up with Kenny Beats, The Alchemist and more in a project that will convert the non believers.
Glenn Denim – BASA
Dublin rapper shares BASA with production from Loop Heavy throughout.
