With the endless onslaught of new music every Friday it’s hard to keep up with all the new releases. We’ve curated the essential new albums and projects out today for you to check out.
Arlo Parks – My Soft Machine
Arlo brings a wonderfully dreamy sound to this tape. Mac DeMarco-esque guitar combined with her soft voice and even a Phoebe Bridgers feature.
Hudson Mohawke and Nikki Nair – Set the roof EP
Hudson Mohawke has worked with Kanye, Drake, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky and even Björk. Don’t let the recent memeification of his work distract for from the talent he consistently displays in his production.
Kassa Overall – ANIMALS
This is a hip hop project which heavily revolves around classic Jazz. Drummer and rapper Kassa Overall has made something special here. Some great features too including Danny Brown, Wiki, Lil B and Shabazz Palaces.
Jay Worthy & Roc Marciano- Nothing Bigger Than The Program
Griselda stay prolific. Every week the label is dropping heat and here is no different. Hard bars equally split between two artists with some underground features sprinkled here and there.
Cookin Soul – RAW TAPES vol.1
Spanish producer Cookin’ Soul has had some stellar collabs recently. He produced Lord Apex’s 2022 tape Off The Strength as well as dropping his own tape last year featuring Freddie Gibbs, Mac Miller and Curren$y. This is the man responsible for keeping Dilla’s spirit alive.
S.AL, aux phoenix – The butterfly effect
This Irish tape is an excellent representation of art rap whilst keeping the beats abstract and fresh.
