News Round-Up: Openers, Closures, Launches and Dog-Friendly Cafés

We’re on the news again, so you don’t have to be.

Garlic Dip Guide has officially gone mainstream, landing himself in The Independent. Brickyard, a cult favourite gastropub for South Dublin locals, has reopened. After over 30 years in the boujie bistro game, Roly’s have launched Angie’s, a wine and cocktail bar for pre-dinner drinks, after-work tipples, and the works.

Bao House on Aungier Street announced its closure, much to the dismay of many bao enthusiasts. The Clock Bar also shuttered in Dublin 8, the third iconic Liberties pub recently.

Dog-friendly cake café opens off Grafton Street.

Be Sweet started out as a confectionary boutique inspired by Irish fairies. Since then, it has grown and expanded, leading to its first sit-in café in the heart of Dublin city. They serve all things sweet: chocolate, cakes, buns, and all sorts of other pastries that we are absolutely dying to try. Plus, they have speciality lattes coming soon.

Rathmines to get a New Neighbourhood Restaurant

Lottie’s of Rathmines is set to open this month and is the second Dublin opening for restaurant group Valence Hospitality – duo Domini Kemp and Brian Montague, the driving force behind The Commons Café, located beneath the Museum of Literature of Ireland. While Lottie’s are using the same social media accounts once operated by Lenehans, they are a completely new company with no connections to the previous owners.  the talented kitchen team they have coming on board –  Head Chef Tudorel Ostache, who’s previously worked at the likes of Chapter One, Mister S, Pichet and Cleaver East, and general manager Geoff Graham who has most recently worked with the Winding Stair Group after over 30 years in the biz.

Donnybrook Loses Another Restaurant.

After 12 years in business, fine dining restaurant Mulberry Garden is closing its doors in Donnybrook temporarily due to landlord issues. The fine dining restaurant has released a lengthy statement on its website explaining the closure of its Donnybrook premises. Until they have more clarity on the situation with their landlords, Mulberry Garden will remain closed. However, they remain hopeful they will be able to re-open in the not-too-distant future. In their statement, Mulberry Garden said they would continue to take care of staff as well as pay their suppliers.

The Storyteller Officially Opened its Doors

The new bar from the team behind Dublin darling Griolladh opened last week where the Becky Morgan once stood.

Berlin Bar Got its Licence Back.

Berlin Bar got their licence back. Well, to be more accurate, a new bar is opening up on the Berlin Bar premises, and will become Pawn Shop. The Journal reports confirmed the re-opening of Berlin Bar this Friday following a court hearing.
