Nonzus Magnus drops nocturnal flex ‘Baptist Freestyle’

The mutli-hyphenate returns after a hiatus with a point to prove.

It’s been a minute since we’ve had fresh Nonzus Magnus in our inbox. The Dublin based rapper, singer and editor has been incubating indoors working on his craft during the past couple of years and whilst he gears up for bigger things, he’s shared a light freestyle to keep listeners engaged.

Baptist Freestyle’ sits at just under two minutes long but it packs a punch and as always, the visuals exceed expectations. Largely a bravado-filled track, Nonzus switches between rapping and singing as digital flickers of phrases cast across the screen.

Speaking on the inception of the track, Nonzus says, “I was out at a party a good friend of mine was having (shout out Dafe from Tebi Rex). Headed down with some friends and when we got there surprisingly, I was recognised by one or two people. One of them complimented an Old song of mine. And another whilst telling me he enjoys my work, asked me when I was making a comeback. Then it hit me… “have I really been gone that long…?” The words circled in my mind and the guilt of being absent and disappointing people who enjoyed my music hit me. I realised I had a lot of lost time to make up for and had been recording, producing and shooting nonstop since.”

When talking about his goals for next year Nonzus Magnus says, “After a long hiatus due to the passing of a family member and covid-19 restrictions, I aim to pick up the momentum. Release more solid works, more collaborations, cinematic visuals, bigger shows, international shows, headlines and more magazine features.”
