Paddy’s Weekend at Guinness Open Gate Brewery

Words: Shamim de Brún

This is the first Saint Patrick’s day since 2019 where we can actually celebrate the Patron Saint of telling snakes to find a new home. The lad deserves his dues and Dublin is the place to be for the day that’s in it. You can raise a pint of plain in his honour and check out the experimental beers from the team at Guinness Open Gate Brewery, along with great tunes and grub!

Selection from the Guinness Open Gate Brewery

Guinness Open Gate Brewery is the home of experimentation at Guinness and their beer calendar of experimental brews switches up every month keeping things interesting. Their March menu includes the stalwart crowd-pleasers alongside St Patrick’s specials Opal IPA, Raspberry & Black Pepper Porter, Peach & Apricot Brett and Nitro Coffee Stout.

This weekend they have an epic line-up planned for Paddy’s Day weekend with some of the city’s best DJs taking to the decks plus they’re reopening their beer garden to screen all of the Six Nations matches. Check out the DJ line up and what to expect below.

Another exciting thing happening this weekend is the final Six Nations matches! The Guinness Open Gate Brewery is the best place to watch this with one of Dublin’s largest screens. For the occasion, the brewers have also developed a special Guinness Six Nations Brew to honour the tournament itself.

Make sure to get down early on Sat 19th to grab a seat in front of the big screen in Guinness Open Gate Brewery’s reopened beer garden.   Doors open at 13:00 with screenings of all matches below.

  • Wales V Italy 14:15
  • Ireland V Scotland 16.45
  • France V England 20:00

Come hungry because their food menu features crackers such as Toonsbridge Halloumi fries, the ultimate Guinness salt-aged beef burger, and for dessert a warm Guinness brownie with roasted barley gelato and Bailey’s butterscotch sauce.

On the decks, you can expect sounds from club and house DJ Selky, electro, hip-hop & house duo, Tiny Choons, soul & funk DJs, Soul Jam, collaborations act, We 3 Kings and DJ and host of Ellemeno. Colin Devine – there’s something for everyone’s taste this Paddy’s weekend.
