Primavera Sound weekend 1 is being compared to Fyre Festival

Words: Eva O’Beirne

Hundreds of attendees have taken to Twitter to complain about the poor management of the Barcelona-based festival.

Held in Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain, this year’s Primavera Sound is the first to take place in two years, and customers aren’t happy with their experience of the festival so far.

Attendees started to complain on Twitter yesterday that they couldn’t access water points or bars, that the grounds were overcrowded and stages appeared poorly managed. One Twitter user explained that the crush at some of the stages was reminiscent of the tragedy at Astroworld in 2021.

Acts playing the festival include Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler, the Creator, Little Smiz, Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion. The Strokes cancelled their appearance at the festival yesterday due to Covid-19.

Primavera Sound stated this morning that they would be tackling these logistical issues which included reports of one hour queues at the festival bars.
