R. Kitt & The Drifter are Headlining a Harm Reduction Fundraiser Tomorrow

Text: Izzy Copestake

A carefully curated electronic Irish lineup, all in aid of making Irish nightlife safer with PsyCare.

Tickets are flying for PsyCare’s fundraiser at Hens Teeth tomorrow. With the likes of R.Kitt, The Drifter, Cáit, and OneCanChan on the lineup – we’re hardly surprised. But this is a little different from a regular night of electronic music in Dublin. All proceeds from the night will go straight back into PsyCare, a non-profit organisation dedicated to psychological care and drug education at festivals and events nationwide.

PsyCare Ireland was founded in 2021 by a team of medical professionals, festival enthusiasts and individuals keen to see dedicated mental health support at events. Over 1 million people attend festivals in Ireland every year. In 2021, a HSE survey found that 94.2% of 1,193 respondents said they had used drugs at festivals, with many reporting polydrug use and mixing drugs and alcohol. With this in mind, PsyCare Ireland believes that mental health services and harm reduction education at festivals can be lifesaving. Last year, the team volunteered at festivals such as Body & Soul, Another Love Story and Fuinneamh.

Speaking about tomorrow’s event, founder Dr. Kathryn Ledden said “This benefit gig will bring together like-minded individuals who want to see a change in how we approach mental health and substance use at live music events. All proceeds will go towards PsyCare Ireland’s work supporting festival-goers in need.”

As part of the fundraiser, attendees can win tickets for a range of festivals this summer, such as Fuinneamh, Another Love Story and In The Meadows.
