Let’s get handsy with this limited edition shandy
Rascals have created a combo made in heaven, rock shandy beer. The Dublin brewery have teamed up with Club taken their iconic beverage and made it into a beer.
The Rascals Club Rock Shandy Pale Ale hits at 4.5% ABV, is made through the classic New England IPA style with Mandarina Bavaria and Amarillo hops.
Rascals used orange and lemon peel in the whirlpool and then added the juice of both during fermentation. It’s a drink that boasts a fresh orange on the nose before developing into a nice bitter-sweet lemon.
“This was a brilliant project to work on and we were really excited to partner with Club,” Co-founder and head brewer at Rascals Cathal O’Donoghue said, “I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t recognize Rock Shandy as being an iconic Irish drink and something we associate with our summers and having a refreshing fizzy drink outdoors. Turning it into a pale ale was great fun. We knew exactly what kind of flavour we needed to create and we know people are going to love the results!”
Founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Cathal O’Donoghue and Emma Devlin, Rascals Brewing Company is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of flavour from their take on Chardonnay Saisons to Mint Choc Stouts to Strawberry Vanilla Milkshake IPAs.
This daring attitude has helped the brewery to scoop gold and silver at the 2016 World Beer Awards and gold and bronze at the 2020 World Beer Awards, for its two best-selling beers Happy Days session pale ale and Yankee White IPA.
You can find the limited-edition beer in all good independent off-licences and online at rascalsbrewing.com/shop.
