RASHHIIID, Colin Horgan announced as Project Young Designer judges for 2023

Words: Eva O’Beirne

The DCU-based competition Project Young Designer will allow for up-and-coming Irish-based designers to showcase their work on March 14.

Established in 2005 by TV personality Laura Whitmore, the Dublin City University (DCU) fashion society DCUStyle has expanded rapidly to become one of the most prominent student societies in Ireland.

Part of the DCUStyle fashion show on March 14 in the Helix, the Project Young Designer competition will see a host of young Irish designers showcase their work for industry professionals.

PYD invites students from design colleges all over Ireland such as NCAD and LSAD to display their designs and receive career insights while competing for the opportunity to win prizes.

Small sustainable Irish-owned businesses will also be displaying their work during the show.

The judges for this year’s PYD competition include Colin Horgan, RASHHIIID and former DCUStyle Chairperson Lara Fagherazzi.

Colin Horgan is a Kerry native designer whose work has been worn by Lady Gaga, Kehlani and Ashnikko. As well as judging the show, several of Horgan’s designs will feature on the runway.

Horgan is joined by Rachel Maguire, better known under her brand name of RASHHIIID. Maguire has already cultivated a following within Ireland through her designs and has had the likes of Doja Cat, Ariana Grande and Megan Fox wearing her faux fur creations.

Maguire previously attended the Grafton College of Fashion and Design and was the former winner of our PYD competition.

The DCUStyle fashion show will take place on March 14 in the Helix.
