The debut compilation from City Imp Records is a mash up of crushing club sonics with a dose of Irish humour.
There’s a serious amount of Irish music being queued up for when clubs reopen. City Imp Records, a new imprint from Roo Honeychild and City Imp released today, their debut compilation featuring a host of talent across a host of genres for a forward-thinking project.
Described as an “anything-but-over-serious compilation” that features a “juvenile sense of humour as well as a healthy dose of nostalgia”, Chancers Vol. 1 features the likes of Toké O Drift, Rory Sweeney, Roo Honeychild, DJ SELKY and more.
Meme culture no longer lives on the fringes of society, but is irreversibly intertwined with everything we do and in this compilation, they’ve dialled up the power on their internet-indebted, carefree brand of party starters.
Speaking on the compilation, Roo Honeychild said, “City Imp Records is a casual platform displaying music for messers. It’s our aim to curate online and offline spaces for people in Ireland who make Jersey Club, weirdo pop, hip hop, and dancefloor mutations with a self-consciously Irish spin.”
Earlier this month, we premiered ‘Freak’ from the compilation from Rory Sweeney and Julia Louise Knifefist and you can find it alongside six other tracks on the compilation.
