RTÉ Spent Almost Half A Million Euro On Ryan Tubridy Reports

Text: Izzy Copestake

RTÉ’s heavy spending was on… reports investigating RTÉ’s heavy spending.

RTÉ has spent 493,000 Euro on a series of externally commissioned reviews as part of the aftermath of the RTÉ payment scandal. Some invoices are outstanding and a separate McCann Fitzgerald investigation is ongoing, the full cost of the investigations is due to be released when all investigations are completed.

In June this year, news hit that RTÉ had paid their lead presenter, Ryan Tubridy, €345,000 more than was disclosed over the course of six years. The scandal was particularly shocking as RTÉ publishes the salaries of its top earners each year, so this was seen to be misleading.

New information surrounding the RTÉ payment scandal is still being released. Earlier today it was reported that RTÉ spent 20,000 Euro on flights to Amsterdam and Europe for its staff over the last two months.
