Russia is racing Tom Cruise to shoot the first feature film in space

A Russian television channel is hoping to cast a lead actress for a film that could be the first feature film shot in space.

Russian TV channel Channel One, has launched a competition to find a lead actress for an upcoming film shot in space.

The movie has provisionally been titled Challenge and the television network has teamed up with Russian space agency Roscosmos to create the film in space. It comes following the announcement that Nasa and Elon Musk’s SpaceX are to collaborate to create a film set in space starring Tom Cruise.

The film, provisionally titled Challenge, will feature a woman in the lead role, and the TV Channel has already provided a list of requirements for any candidates.

1TV.ru noted that applicants must be aged between 25-45 and no taller than 180cm alongside some other physical requirements.
