Shannakie of Wicklow duo Gumshoe shares ‘Wading Water’

“This new track is a melodic chilled out instrumental with a sweet blend of soft indie guitar and smooth jazz and hip hop inspired drums.”

It’s been a while since we heard from Wicklow pair Gumshoe. We fell in love with their hip hop/electronica/indie hybrid sound in 2016 and followed Conor Murphy and Keith Ferguson’s project since. The last we heard from them was in early 2017 when we caught up with them to discuss how the landscape of their hometown influences their work.

Then silence.

Now Conor is back with a solo outing, under the name Shannakie, still maintaining the lo-fi sensibilities we became accustomed to with Gumshoe, but putting a more guitar-led slant on it.

“This new track is a melodic chilled out instrumental with a sweet blend of soft indie guitar and smooth jazz and hip hop inspired drums,” he tells us. “I’m planning on releasing a solo EP in May , and Gumshoe are also planning an full length album release at some point this year.”

Check out the new one below.
