Small outdoor festivals under 500 people to be permitted by July 20
From June 29 a group of up to 50 people will be allowed attend events in enclosed spaces. Outdoor groups of 500 and indoor groups of 100 permitted from July 20.
In a new report on the Independent it has been revealed that up to 100 people will be permitted to attend indoor gatherings from 20 July. These include the likes of weddings and funerals.
Over the past month the roadmap for reopening the economy has changed dramatically with numerous steps being accelerated including the opening up of hairdressers at the end of June.
The article further notes “from June 29 a group of up to 50 people will be allowed attend events in enclosed spaces.”
This means that people will be able to go to the cinema, small theatres and it allows other cultural spaces to resume activities.
Most notably gatherings of up to 200 people will be allowed outdoors, potentially opening the possibility for small gigs and shows to go ahead early this summer. It goes without saying that social distancing will apply, but it means that people can also attend sports games again.
If you’ve been viewing mass via Zoom up until now you’ll be glad to hear that churches can resume services as long as numbers stay below 50.
The bigger changes though come in late July.
July 20 marks the final phase of the updated plan, at this point gatherings of up to 100 indoors will be allowed and outdoor gatherings of up to 500 people will be permitted.
This is welcomed news for club and festival owners. Despite not being able to fill venues with the kind of ear marked numbers it brings a potential starting point for club owners to open their doors once again. We will see small concerts, cultural events and sports taking place in late July and August.
Restaurants and pubs which serve a substantial meal will also be back in business from June 29.
