The United Nations World Food Programme has won the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Prize organisation announced the win this morning

The year’s Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to The United Nations World Food Programme.

The Programme was set up to combat hunger and starvation in conflict stricken areas across the world. It was founded in 1961 and has since fed millions of people in over 80 countries. UNFWP is currently helping in the emergency conflict areas of Sudan, Yemen and Nigeria.

Other winners of the 2020 Nobel Prize Awards were American poet Louise Glück for Literature and Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna for Chemistry.
