This Film Received a 14 Minute Standing Ovation at Venice Film Festival

Cinephiles, mark you’re calendars. It’s hitting Irish cinemas on November 4th

Directed by Irish/British Academy Award® winner Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Banshees of Inisherin), WILD HORSE NINE stars two-time Academy Award® nominee John Malkovich (Places in the Heart, In the Line of Fire), Academy Award® winner Sam Rockwell (‘Fosse/Verdon,’ Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Vice), Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Ghost World), Mariana di Girolamo (Ema, Kill the Jockey), Ailín Salas (El Secreto, ‘Monzón’), with Tom Waits (Seven Psychopaths), and Parker Posey (‘The White Lotus’). This darkly funny and thought-provoking film has already been getting its flowers, receiving a 14min standing ovation at at the Venice Film Festival, where it debuted, and is expected to feature in the awards circuit.

The film is set shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup. CIA agents Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell) are sent from Santiago to the remote Easter Island by their boss, MJ (Steve Buscemi). The plot blends together razor-sharp comedic dialogue, political themes and McDonagh’s signature dark humour.

This is a film that demands being seen on the big screen. Visually it’s utterly stunning. It works with a retro 80’s aesthetic to capture the incredible backdrop of Easter Island.
