This October, Music Network brings one of Norway’s most forward-thinking jazz exports to Ireland. The Daniel Herskedal Trio features Herskedal on tuba and bass trumpet, Helge Lien on piano, and Helge Andreas Norbakken on percussion, and they will perform across Ireland from 21 to 26 of October.

Known for stretching the limits of the tuba into something cinematic, melodic, and deeply human, Herskedal has carved a path as a composer, soloist and innovator who thrives on breaking convention. His sound moves between jazz, folk, and Arabic influences, creating something both boundary pushing and beautifully accessible. All while reflecting the breathtaking Norweigan landscape through sound.
In addition to his recorded output, Daniel has also established himself as a leading composer and has received commissions from BBC Concert Orchestra, Marine Music and Moscow Patriarchate’s Male Choir. In 2019, Herskedal debuted as a film music composer scoring the music for The Last Black Man in San Francisco which was produced by Brad Pitt’s company Plan B.
