This Storytelling Event Asks: What Does It Mean To Belong In Europe?

If you have a story to tell, you’re going to want to hear about this.

In a world where division often shouts louder than unity, the ancient Irish tradition of storytelling still has the power to bring us closer. On Thursday, 19 June, ‘United in Diversity: An Evening of Storytelling‘ is inviting people from all walks of life to gather at Third Space in Smithfield for a night of connection, community, and shared culture.

Ireland has changed a lot in the last few years, with examples of polarisation and hostility growing more and more frequent. This event wants to look at this head on and bring together voices across communities to reflect on what it means to belong in Europe today. From personal journeys of migration to the everyday rituals that shape identity, each story will offer a window into lived experiences shaped by solidarity, diversity, and resilience.

The event takes place on Thursday, 19 June 2025, from 18:00–19:00 at Third Space, Smithfield, Dublin, D07 P440, with welcome refreshments served from 17:30. Attendance is free and open to all.

Do you have a story to tell?

Whether you’re new to Ireland or have lived here for generations. European Movement Ireland wants to hear from you. Under the theme ‘United in Diversity’ you can share your reflections on identity, belonging, or commitment to upholding EU values of human dignity, freedom, democracy and equality – amid all the rising challenges. Get in touch, take the mic and be part of a wonderful night celebrating shared dialogue!

To attend the event as a storyteller or as an audience member, please fill in the form here.
