Tolu Makay’s new video is a reflection of her undeniable potential

“Losing someone is hard and the memories that seep through unknowingly is what makes it harder to let go. Oceans represents the loop effect of one’s memories.”

Tolu Makay is a Dublin-based, Offaly-raised singer-songwriter and spoken word artist who until now has been reserved with the material she’s been releasing. While her track ‘GOODBYE‘ has nearly racked up half a million listens on Spotify alone, it’s been difficult to get a true sense of her talent. Until now.

With this new video for ‘Ocean’ she’s showing just how far she has the potential to go in her career. It’s a beautiful, professional and moving video, which is bolstered by not only Tolu’s excellent vocals and the smooth production, but also a spoken word intro that shows her multi-dimensional talent.

“Losing someone is hard and the memories that seep through unknowingly is what makes it harder to let go,” Tolu says about the track. “Oceans represents the loop effect of one’s memories.”

A little while ago we welcomed Tolu Makay into the podcast studio for our New Voices series. On that episode she discussed spreading positivity not only through her creative work, but in every facet of her life. She also spoke about how her academic career overlaps into her sound. Listen below.
