Twitter commemorates “the greatest horseplay of all time” one year on.

This time last year, Irish Twitter witnessed “Some of the greatest horseplay of all time.”

Feels like 2020 has completely warped our perception of space and time. Things are a little bleak moving into the winter so we thought we’d throw it back to a better time. A simpler time.

This time last year a Whatsapp audio clip surfaced online of a few ‘lads’ from Blackrock describing their antics in Koh Samui as “some of the greatest horseplay of all time”.

It fitted the stereotypical rugby boy culture almost too well, leading to questions about its validity. But a year on here we are still unsure whether to laugh or cry.

It consisted of a Blackrock alumni on a trip in Thailand describing some booze-fuelled competition by the pool, complete with wailing bros in the background egging him on.

Only thing we will say is that the revelation of the Koh Samui Cup audio coincided fairly close to the outbreak of COVID in China. Not saying the two are linked, but wouldn’t surprise us if planet earth gave up after hearing about them absolutely “sending it”.

Give your gentle nervous system a break and laugh (or cry) at the audio below:

Here are some of the best responses to the one year anniversary on Twitter:

Thoughts and prayers to Tarquin and the boys (Insert prying hands emojis).
The Koh Samui boys are renting overpriced properties to students in Dublin, feel old yet?
