We’re Hosting a Celebration Of Japanese-Irish Music With A KiiKO Listening Party

On Thursday 15 October at 18:00, we’re debuting the newest release from Irish-Japanese outfit KiiKO — KiiKO Forever. Grab your ticket.

If you’re partial to the sounds, colours and overall aesthetic of retro-futurist Japanese artistry, then this one is for you. KiiKO is an electro-pop duo comprised of DJ and artist Emmy Shigeta and musician John Antony, based in Ireland with roots in Japan. Pulling from sounds synonymous with ’80s and ’90s Japanese synth-pop, KiiKO have crafted a playful, vibrant world that is almost impossible to remove from your psyche.

To celebrate the release of their much-anticipated debut project, we’re hosting a listening party at G.A.S (34 Pearse Street), with a free drink from Asahi for every attendee, plus Japanese cuisine for all. After listening to the project, EMMY will take the reins on the decks for an afterparty inspired by the sounds that laid the foundation for KiiKO Forever.

Since releasing their debut single in July 2025, they have sold out Whelan’s Upstairs, supported NYC’s Kassie Krut at Bello Bar, and performed at All Together Now and Féile na Gréine, as well as most recently performing at Ireland Music Week.

Their first single, “July”, is based on Tanabata, the Japanese wish-making festival held on July 7. The idea of wishing for something beyond your dreams has run through everything since and is reflected in an equally aspirational and visually stunning music video.
