Wider Than Pictures: The Summer Series At Collins Barracks Is Back

This year, the Wider Than Pictures series held at National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks, features Amyl and the Sniffers, Faye Webster, Mac DeMarco, Super Furry Animals, and berlioz.

If you’ve never made it to one of these shows, now is your chance. It’s quietly becoming one of Dublin’s best live music series, taking over the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks every summer. Now in its fifth year, they’re set to turn one of the city’s most beautiful historic spaces into an open-air gig venue yet again.

Carefully curated by Singular Artists, Wider Than Pictures has built a stacked history of headliners, with the perfect support slots to match. Over the years, Franz Ferdinand, Fleet Foxes, Future Islands, First Aid Kit, alt-J, YUNGBLUD, Gossip, James Blunt, Simply Red, The The, Deacon Blue, James Blunt, Thin Lizzy Orchestrated, Mick Flannery and The Vamps have all taken to the stage. Only last year, we saw Father John Misty and Wunderhorse lead the lineups of a packed out weekend at Collins’ Barracks. This year, we’ve been given even more.

Their legacy of booking world-class live acts continues this year with it’s fifth installment. Amyl and the Sniffers’ pedigree are consolidated with Spider and Mannequin Pussy on support, Faye Webster is joined by SPRINTS and Amie Blue, Mac DeMarco sees Tex Crick on support, Super Furry Animals is joined by Baxter Dury and Really Good Time, and berlioz is supported by Sofia Kourtesis and our very own Ricky Chong. And even though you’re in the heart of Dublin city, the layout of the courtyard creates a intimate feel both acoustically and visually.

In a review of 2023’s Wider Than Pictures closing concert by Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand, The Irish Times observed, “The sound is perfectly contained within the courtyard of Collins Barracks”.
