Young Irish producer Nxbody shares new mixtape

“It’s really exciting to think of what Irish hip hop is going to be like in the next few years.”

Nxbody is a 17-year-old producer from Lucan. He has only been making beats for just under a year, but it seems the producer has taken to it with aplomb.

He mixes lo-fi beats, jazzy loops and popular vocal samples from the likes of Danny Brown and Migos.

“I started making beats just out of boredom at first but then when I found out how much there was to it, I became a lot more invested in it and spent most of my free time just making beats or looking up tutorials. I started off making really basic trap beats with the intention of getting good enough to make some quick cash from it on the side, but then I found I wasn’t too interested in making trap.”

While he does enjoy listening to trap, it’s artists like Kendrick Lamar, Chester Watson, Flying Lotus and Knxwledge that influence his creations.

“I figured I wanted to make stuff that was more like what they were putting out, more jazz influenced and in some cases, less polished and high fidelity.”

Discussing Irish hip hop the young Dubliner says it’s no longer a novelty. It’s gotten real.

“…with the rise of artists like Rejjie Snow, Hare Squead, Kojaque and Jafaris, Irish hiphop is definitely being taken more seriously. There are so many other artists as well that don’t have the spotlight right now but are taking their time to put out quality music. It’s really exciting to think of what Irish hip hop is going to be like in the next few years.”
