2Hats1USB Are Holding It Down For Cork Culture
Go on a night out in Cork and tell us it’s not the best time you’ve ever had. There’s a special sauce down south which translates into the pubs and clubs of the city. The transient nature of Cork’s nightlife means you have to bring your vision to the venue, and nobody does it better than 2Hats1USB.
Over the past three years, Jägermeister’s SAVETHENIGHT series has been all about laying a foundation for Ireland’s nightlife to flourish. Pioneered by Jägermeister, the initiative champions local talent, giving artists and collectives the resources to reclaim their city’s nightlife and works to keep the night a space that’s safe, inclusive and sustainable for everyone. It operates on the core belief that “there would be no Jägermeister without nightlife.”
From putting on their own gigs in Cork to bringing their sound to some of the biggest festivals in Ireland, the lads are bringing their sound back to Cork on Wednesday 14th October at Rearden’s, Le Cabaret for Jägermeister’s SAVETHENIGHT series. What started out as an organic friendship between two headwear-loving creatives, has blossomed into a wider concept which carries the city on its back. It’s about supporting your local and pushing your boundaries musically.
“Honestly, it kinda just happened. We randomly went b2b at a few gigs together, and it just worked. We decided to run with it, and without even realising it picked up traction, and we had created something special.”
Its about support local and contributing to your local scene for the lads. What is Irish nightlife without a strong foundation of people want to contribute to their community through some breaks and bass?
“Whether you’re in Clonakilty, Clonmel, or Clondalkin, someone in your area is putting on a show. GO, show support and help push your local scene,” the lads told us.
The guys are the natural evolution of a Cork creative scene which has battled to stay vibrant. Citing the legendary Stevie G as an inspiration and a mentor, 2Hats1USB have played in some of the institutions of Cork. “We were honoured to close the Savoy Cork, amongst our people, for where it all started: Primetime Cork City,” reminiscing on Cork’s creative beacon, Primetime and their closing set to say goodbye to the business.
Some of the most memorable nights in Cork have been at the mercy of 2Hats1USB, amongst a litany of names who are holding it down for Cork.
“From Tara Casey, OutLaw’d, and Riseup Soundsystem, together we created some memorable nights in Cork. Now, with District & Jägermeister, we hope to create another memory for the city.”
When we get into the nitty-gritty of the tunes, we’re talking bass and booty shaking. This isn’t your typical techno-filled affair.
“Expect a bass-heavy affair; we have some of Cork’s finest selectors to help us on our never-ending quest to get everyone dancing and booties shaking.”
