May Gig Guide: SPRINTS, Mitski, Danny Brown & More

As evenings get a tad sunnier, it’s time to cleanse yourself of any remaining winter sadness with some great music. There’s a bit of a cathartic theme to this month’s gig guide, so get it all out before we’re knee-deep in summer.

03 May

SPRINTS

Venue: The Button Factory

Doors: 19:00

Tickets: €20.00, available here

Since the release of their album ‘Letter to Self’, it feels like SPRINTS have become the poster group for everything right with the Irish alternative music world. Coming off of a tour which saw them sell out New York, London, Paris and many more cities all over Europe, these two Dublin dates see the album tour come to a terrific end. If you miss them this time, you might catch them at Glastonbury.

05 May

Curtisy

Venue: The Workman’s Cellar

Doors: 20:00

Tickets: €15.00, available here

It’s Curtisy season. To celebrate his debut album, What Was The Question, dropping on 3 May, the unofficial Mayor of Jobstown is hosting rap purists in The Workman’s Cellar. With the recent singles scratching that itch for West Dublin goofy bars that have no right going as hard as they do, we’re looking forward to this one.

11 May

Fizzy Orange

Venue: Dalymount Park

Doors: 19:00

Tickets: €20.00, available here

Nobody in Ireland invokes that vintage feel much like these boys. Their most recent visuals for their track CHOO CHOO took us on a surrealist DART ride down memory lane to the late ’60s. The lead single was a perfect precursor to their newest EP FIZZY ORANGE IN MONO. Immerse yourself in time gone by with their Dalymount gig this month.

28 May

Cosha

Venue: The Workman’s Cellar

Doors: 20:00

Tickets: €13.00, available here

Cosha’s connections to some of the biggest names in her sound run deep. Born in Indiana but made in Wicklow town, District recently sat down with her to talk through why her inbound project MurMurs matters so much in the metamorphosis from her former moniker Bonzai to a flourishing modern artist.
