Inside Ireland’s Most Chaotic Weekend: The Donegal Rally

For one weekend a year, the sound of backfires and the smell of burnouts permeate through the areas surrounding Letterkenny in Co. Donegal. Against the backdrop of Ireland’s largest rallying event, there is a litany of grassroots events giving us a taste of real Irish car culture. Here we see the art of diffing, which sees drivers perform doughnuts and power-slides to an adoring audience. In most places such antics would be illegal. Not here. Beyond the sanctioned tracks and professional drivers of the rally, we explored the unfiltered foundation of Ireland’s car scene — diffing, drifting and the Donegal International Rally in Letterkenny.
