The sun’s out, and summer is so close we can almost taste it. But when the sun goes down, we still need places to go, people to see – and there’s no shortage of that when it comes to gigs. Every month we are spoiled with music performances from Ireland and beyond, and this month is no different. Here is our gig guide for April.

8 April

Kamasi Washington

Venue: 3Olympia
Doors: 19:00

LA multi-instrumentalist Kamasi Washington will be gracing the 3Olympia this 8 April. Predominantly a saxophonist, he is also a founding member of the jazz collective West Coast Get Down, a bandleader, and a powerhouse performer who brought the house down at his Tiny Desk Concert. The Grammy-nominated artist will stop off in Dublin as part of his Fearless Movement European tour, and we cannot wait.

11 April

Hotgirl

Venue: Upstairs at Whelan’s
Doors: 20:00

When Drogheda and Dublin musicians merge, blending humble lofi, DIY style, noisy soundscapes and melodic dissonance, you get Hotgirl. And where better to see them than the iconic Whelan’s? Their new single ‘Sisyphus’ is out now, and trust us, you’re going to want to see it live.

12 April

Orla Gartland

Venue: 3Olympia
Doors: 19:00

Orla Gartland has had a stellar 2024 with the release of her critically acclaimed album ‘Everybody Needs A Hero.’ Not only this, she released it independently through her own label, New Friends. As part of her Hero tour, she will be making numerous stops across UK, Europe, and North America, and we’re so ready for it.

12 April

Chalk

Venue: Whelan’s Main Room
Doors: 19:30

Chalk have been making waves since their debut release ‘Them’ in 2022 – and they haven’t slowed down since. The Belfast electronic/rock trio are now also Academy Award-winning filmmakers: Ross Cullen Benedict Goddard and Luke Niblock. Their new EP “Conditions III” is out now, recorded at Floki Studios in Iceland last summer. They said that “the Conditions Trilogy is complete and marks the end of an era for us,” but their long awaited tour is only getting started.

20 April

Sugababes

Venue: 3Arena
Doors: 18:30

They’re coming back ‘round round, baby, round round‘ for another Irish gig, and we’re not mad about it. This iconic trio always bring the smooth harmonies, amazing stage presence and welcomed nostalgia every time they perform. If you were lucky enough to see them at All Together Now in 2023, you know how successful this comeback really is. Miss them, and it will literally feel like a hole in the head.

Tickets are available here.

22 April

Central Cee

Venue: 3Arena
Doors: 18:30

Central Cee is the place to be this April 22. He has emerged as one of the most prominent voices in UK rap for his blend of gritty yet vulnerable lyricism and high profile collaborations with the likes of Lil Baby, 21 Savage and Ice Spice just to name a few. On his ‘Can’t Rush Greatness’ world tour from now until July, he will be making a stop off in Dublin between his Manchester and London dates, and there’s no doubt he will bring the roof down in the 3Arena that night.

Tickets are available here.

23 April

Chubby Cat

Venue: Upstairs at Whelan’s
Doors: 20:00

As one of our future of Irish music alumni, we already know that Chubby Cat’s live sets are where it’s at. After releasing a slew of singles over for the last few years, she’s ready to bring them to the live stage in Dublin. With f3miii on support, her iconic full band set up, and outstanding vocal, this show is undoubtedly going to be fire.

Tickets are available here.

27 April

Greentea Peng

Venue: 3Olympia
Doors: 19:30

This Londoner thinks green tea is absolutely peng – and we think her music is too. Greentea Peng’s album ‘TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY’ is officially here, and what an album it is. With her signature honeyed vocals, Greentea Peng builds smoky soundscapes and spiritual anthems, interweaving her music with everything from dub, reggae, jazz, contemporary hip-hop and psychedelic rock. 3Olympia, get ready.
