December Gig Guide

Christmas is coming, and there is absolutely no shortage of gigs to bring us in to the new year. From post-punk rock to Irish traditional, neo-soul to old classics, there’s something for everyone. Here is our December gig guide for local stars and international acts.

06 & 07 December

Fontaines D.C.

Venue: 3Arena
Doors: 18:30

With two Grammy nominations and a Rolling Stone Award since their release of ‘Romance’, the lads are ready to take the final stage of their tour in their hometown. Tickets are mostly sold out, but some have become available on Ticketmaster for any Fontaines fanatics out there.

08 December

Fizzy Orange and The Love Buzz

Venue: The Button Factory

If you haven’t had the chance to see this six-piece amalgamation of beach rock & roll, fuzzy guitars, and bouncy rhythms, now’s your chance. Fizzy Orange delivers a fusion of charm and talent you can’t help but dance to.

12 December

Scustin

Venue: The Grand Social
Doors: 20:00

Looking for some post-funk pre-Christmas fun? This band is scustingly great. They blend humour, storytelling, and their jazz-funk hybrid with indie rock.

13 December

Pillow Queens

Venue: Vicar Street
Doors: 19:00

If you want to end the year on a high, then head to Pillow Queens. As part of their nine-date Irish tour that includes stops Drogheda, Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Limerick, Cork, Belfast, and Galway, culminating in a hometown gig at Vicar Street. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to their latest album ‘Name Your Sorrow’, treat yourself. It’s nearly Christmas.

17 December

The Pogues

Venue: 3Arena

What a lineup this gig has! The Pogues’ Spider Stacy, James Fearnley, and Jem Finer are celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Pogues’ debut album, joined by members of the Fontaines D.C., The Bad Seeds, The Scratch, and more. With some special guests thrown in, it’s definitely one to check out.

20 December

Morgana

Venue: The Button Factory

After her captivating performance at Other Voices, Morgana will showcase her blend of electronic pop, disco, and indie with her distinctive vocals. Since the beginning of her solo career, she has amassed an devoted following with previous sold-out shows in Dublin, London, New York, and Belfast. Her style and set up are the perfect rendition to bring you in to that festive season.

27 & 28 December

The Mary Wallopers

Venue: Vicar Street
Doors: 19:00


Although most tickets are already sold, you might get lucky on Ticketmaster. With their energetic performance on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny on New Year’s Eve last year, they quickly proved themselves as the perfect band to ring in the new year. Why not catch them beforehand in Dublin, Kerry, Belfast, Cork, or Galway throughout December?

31 December

NYF Dublin – Aby Coulibaly, Kabin Krew, Saibh Skelly & Cian Ducrot

Venue: Dublin Castle
Doors: 16:00 & 20:00


NYF is always such a wonderful way to discover new music before ringing in the new year at midnight. This family-friendly festival runs from 30 December to January 1 and will showcase Irish stars Cian Ducrot, Aby Coulibaly, Kabin Krew, and Saibh Skelly. Held in a stunning venue right in the centre of town, it never fails to impress.
