A Street Dancing Competition is Coming to Dublin Next Month

Words: Dylan Murphy

16 dancers are going head to head for the national title in Dundrum. What’s more is, tickets are free.

Red Bull Dance Your Style is coming to Ireland for the first time on Saturday 30 September. The event sees 16 dancers compete in Dundrum Town Centre as part of a mixed one-on-one battle.

Dancers can perform any street style as part of the contest which has already taken place in over thirty countries across the globe. The music played often dips into hip hop but also extends to other genres like funk, garage and pop.

The appeal of this particular dance contest is there are no panel of judges. Instead the winners of each battle are decided by a crowd vote.

The winner of the contest will represent Ireland at the Red Bull Dance Your Style world finals in Frankfurt, Germany in November this year.

Red Bull Dance Your Style takes place at Pembroke Square in Dundrum Town Centre at 13.00 on Saturday 30 September. The event is open to the public and no ticket is required. For more information head to their website.
