Alex Gough shares first single ‘BACKSEAT’ from forthcoming EP
The Waterford spitter has teamed up with Denzel Curry’s right-hand man for the mix on his new cut.
Waterford’s Alex Gough has remerged after a relative silence with a thumping new cut. Having kept his head down during quarantine after the release of his ‘80%’ EP, the drummer and rapper has shared the first single ‘BACKSEAT’ from his sophomore EP ‘FOREVER CLASSIC’.
Teaming up with Nate Burgess, who recently mixed ‘UNLOCKED’ for Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats, Gough has invited an extra level of sheen to complement the improvement in his own production on the new record.
An ode to the skate culture and 90s hip hop that informs his style, ‘BACKSEAT’ features confident delivery and zany, trunk-rattling production.
On the new cut, Alex said, “There have been plenty of parties I’ve gotten bored of just cause I’m distracted. ‘BACKSEAT’ is basically about all of the things I’m distracted by when really I should be in the moment. It’s also a song to play really loud in your car so I guess it all makes sense.”
