This Course Will Set You Up for a Career in the Music Industry

Words: Staff Writer

Apply now and you might just follow in the footsteps of BIMM alumni like Fontaines D.C and The Murder Capital.

The music industry can be muddy, complicated and tiring at the best of times. Taking your first strides into making a career can be difficult, however, upskilling is a vital part of the journey and being surrounded by likeminded people always helps. With that in mind, BIMM Institute Dublin’s full-time, four year degree BA (Hons)Commercial Modern Music Program could prove the right choice for a budding artist.

With their gaze firmly set on the future without totally abandoning the traditional core skills of being a musician, the course provides the opportunity to specialize in Vocals, Songwriting, Guitar, Bass, Drums, or Music Production, while also offering the chance to tailor your studies to include digital marketing and more so you are fully equipped for a rapidly changing industry.

Marrying hands on experience, practical skills and project management with plenty of live performance practice, the course also naturally attracts talented musicians and is a breeding ground for collaboration and networking. BIMM Institute Dublin also offers other unique experiences too. There’s gigs every term and opportunities to record and release tracks, while experienced artists and industry professionals also host masterclasses as part of a well-rounded education. Elsewhere, students also develop their academic and research skills as they prepare for their professional project or dissertation.

Book an open day for the opportunity to see the value in studying at BIMM Institute Dublin first hand. The forthcoming open days on January 6, January 20, and January 27 feature live performances from BIMM alumni and current students as well as detailed module workshops from lecturers about the nature of the course and the facilities available on site. These events provide a firsthand glimpse into the BIMM experience.

Applications for the full-time, four year degree course are currently open via the CAO, with a deadline of 1 February 2024. Click here to book an open day.
