It’s Bandcamp Friday, which means all the proceeds from your purchases go towards artists. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up our favourite releases.

The past year has left the creative industry in the lurch. With no live shows, sound technician’s, stage crews, artists and venue staff have been without work for the majority of the year.

A saving grace for artists across the board has been the introduction of Bandcamp’s promise to give all profits from sales on the first Friday of every month to artists. That means if you buy one of their records, every single penny of the profit goes straight into their pocket. It could be the difference between your favourite act continuing to create and stay afloat in the midst of the pandemic.

So with that in mind, we have rounded up the releases we think are worth your hard earned cash this Friday.

narolane – Water

Hot off the back of Denise’s Choice Prize success, she’s joined forces with MuRli and God Knows to take on the world.

VSN WORLD 4 A BETTER WORLD

Genre ain’t no thing in the compilation from Galway’s VSN World. Featuring a host of heavy hitters ranging from Kettama and Mall Grab to Gaptoof and Tommy Holohan, all proceeds go towards Dublin charity, Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH).

Mount Alaska – Terrain

New beautiful and meditative work from Dublin’s Mount Alaska. Perfect soundtrack to any self-care routine.

Tolü Makay – Used To Be

Gorgeous, vulnerable songwriting from one of Ireland’s finest – Tolü Makay.

The Space Tape Hosted by Gaptoof

During this lockdown, Soft Boy Records producer Gaptoof has been hosting weekly beat battles. Irish producers have gone head to head, flipping a sample and creating a fresh instrumental. The winners from each edition have had their entries added to a new tape, with all the proceeds going towards MASI.

Hazey Haze – Pepé Le Pew Feat. Danny Lanham

New romantic tinged madness from Limerick’s resident growler, featuring live instrumentation from Danny Lanham.
