Big Fan gets Michelin recognition

Words: Shamim de Brún

Big Fan Bao, the authentic Chinese restaurant on Aungier Street is among the latest additions to the Michelin Guide.

Specialising in bao and handmade dumplings Big Fan was the only Irish addition of the five newly added eateries.

In their description of Big Fan, the guide said it was a place full of “colourful décor, bright lights and lively atmosphere“. The cuisine is inspired by China and Taiwan with their bao and dumplings being made fresh daily.

The update comes ahead of Michelin’s annual launch ceremony. Tomorrow the new Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmands and Green Stars will be unveiled.

The Michelin Guides are a series of guide books that have been published by the French tyre company Michelin since 1904. It is the most prestigious food guide in the world.
