Fidelity, a collaboration between two good pals; The Big Romance and Whiplash Brewery, is set to open in the former Dice Bar in Dublin 7 this December.

The Announment

They announced the move in an Instagram post today. They said “Taking everything we’ve learned from running a bar and brewing craft beer, our aim was to bring this to a new space that also encompassed our deep appreciation of music and the culture that surrounds it”.

Accoring to the post “everything in Fidelity is custom designed”. The space will have a “bespoke system from Hatchett Sound”. It will also have “a manifold pouring system” which ensures precise pressure and temperature to give customers “the best pour possible”.

In a message to CHAR they disclosed that this is but the first phase of an operation they’ve been gearing up for. They said, “there’s a lot more to come from the space which we’ll be announcing in January. The bar is very much phase 1 of the project”.

The Background

The name Fidelity was likely born of their collaboration with Whiplash. Whiplash hosts an annual beer festival in the Mansion House called Fidelity. Whiplash is one of Dublins most interesting and innovative craft brewries.

They began as a side project for friends Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own fully funtioning pain in the neck. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery in Ballyfermot. Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Big Romance is a craft beer specialist bar that still sells a cracking Guinness in Dublin. On their website they describe themselves as “an audiophile bar with a custom soundsystem, a passion for great music, craft beers & good company”.

Big Romance is a subset of Hidden Agenda. Hidden Agenda hosts festivals, parties, gigs and more. They helped found Metropolis Festival. They have also hosted artists such as Run The Jewels, Nicolas Jaar, Mos Def, Flight Facilities, Todd Terje, Jay Electronica, Kelis, DJ Koze, David August and many more.
