It comes after the club had their 2018 shirt pulled after the estate of the legendary singer challenged their use of his image.
Four years ago, Bohs released and subsequently had to withdraw their special edition away kit featuring Bob Marley on the front. The club was forced to pull the shirts from the marketplace after a representative for the estate raised an objection to their use of the imagery which was licensed by a third-party company. However, today the League of Ireland club has revealed it’s worked with the family of the late singer to release a new kit.
The 2022 away kit pays respect to Marley’s final outdoor concert, which took place at Dalymount Park, the home of the club in July 1980.
A tenth of the profits from the shirt will go towards buying musical instruments and football equipment for people in Asylum Centres in Ireland.
“It brings me enormous joy to unveil this jersey today following years of work on the idea”, said Bohs’ Chief Operating Officer Daniel Lambert. “The Marley concert at Dalymount is one of Ireland’s truly special musical events, his only ever Irish show and, sadly, his last ever outdoor one.
“His love of football is widely known to all, and that he played on our famous pitch before the concert, the same turf that some of the world’s best players have graced such as Pele, Best and Zidane is amazing.”
Shirts can be pre-ordered via their website.
