From the director of In Bruges comes a tale of a bro-mance on the rocks.

A brand new trailer for The Banshees of Inisherin has arrived, giving audiences a first look at Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson reuniting on the big screen. The pair last featured together in McDonagh’s comedy classic In Bruges, as two guilt-stricken hitmen keeping a low profile in the Belgian city.

The first look at Banshees teases a story more close to home than In Bruges– on the idyllic lake isle of Inisherin. However, the village are appalled when Colm (Gleeson) abruptly ends his long-term friendship with Páraic (Farrell) – for the simple reason that “he’s dull.”

As Páraic protests further and tries to get back in his pal’s good books, Colm’s nerve only steels while his decision begins to have unforeseen consequences in the well-knit community.

Also featured in the trailer is breakout Irish star Barry Keoghan as Dominic (Calm with Horses, The Batman) and long-time collaborator with McDonagh Kerry Condon as Páraic’s sister Siobhán (Gold, Avengers: Infinity War).

The Banshees of Inisherin marks McDonagh’s on-screen return to Ireland, with his last two features Seven Psychopaths and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri featuring American protagonists – the latter winning Academy Awards for acting and a nod for Best Original Screenplay.

Searchlight have yet to announce a date for the project but judging from the trailer the new drama will showcases McDonagh’s flare for blood-soaked tragedy and macabre humour.
