Denise Chaila celebrates the south west in ‘061’

Words: Dylan Murphy

More medieval magic from Denise Chaila and we’re here for it.

It’s been a minute since Denise Chaila released solo music.

After the huge success of Go Bravely and the subsequent RTÉ Choice Prize album of the year award, the Limerick spitter took a step back from the limelight. However, today she’s returned with a new video indebted to the sword fighting of middle earth and ethereal sounds of Irish folklore in ‘061′.

Cutting through a thumping instrumental and finding potency between the track’s running hi hats, Denise is once again showcasing her genuine star power (not that we needed reminding).

It follows a huge 12 months for Denise, who had a breakthrough moment during her performance in the National Gallery of Ireland for Other Voices’ Courage series.
