We’re Hosting Two Gigs Celebrating The Future of Irish Music

It’s the culmination of District’s Future Of Irish Music series with Hennessy, where we select Irish artists who are going to be the next generation of homegrown talent. Two gigs, on 15 and 23 May, hosted in The Grand Social will see three acts each take to the stage, with complimentary drinks for those early through the doors. For tickets to the shows, click here.

15 May

$ona Blu€

Orbiting around neo-soul and R&B, $ona’s soft-spokenness gives us mesmerising hooks and enchanting vocals. Veering into the abstract and frequently pulling on both elements of hip-hop and ambient sounds, there’s a beautiful versatility in her work.

Vaticanjail

How can Latin-electronic music ever be boring? Vaticanjail’s Chilean roots are overtly present in her sound. There’s a darkness to her sound which combines perfectly with elegance that somehow results in crowds moving their feet. Breaks, glitching, sample chops and Español, what more can you want?

Brawni

A playback operator and a pillar of the exciting new generation Irish electronic scene. Brawni has collaborated with residents of the most prominent Berlin nightlife spaces, live-mixing sounds that tickle the brains of true electro-nerds.

23 May

Projective

A group that could silence a stadium. Pure milk and honey vocals, with gorgeous elements of soul, R&B and hip-hop it feels luxurious to watch Projective on stage. Hailing from Cork, we might have to admit that they do it best down there.

Keanu The Pilot

A multi-disciplinary artist, when Keanu isn’t painting, he’s one of our favourite rappers in Ireland. Put him over any beat, and it still goes hard. Collaborating with many other artists who are contributing to the explosion of Irish rap, Keanu represents the bright future of the genre here.

Youngiz

Representative of a world which seems to have captured a young Irish generation. Youngiz was the only Irish feature on Travy’s No.1 album ‘Spooky’ as well as crafting a following and putting numbers on the board from his undeniably raw solo work.
