Dublin Art Book Fair is returning to Temple Bar Gallery + Studios this December, launching on Thursday 4 December at 6pm. Running until 14 December, the Fair will be offering ten days to browse and buy from an incredible range of art books, zines and independent publications.
This year’s edition is curated by Dr. Selina Guinness, who brings the theme Flock to the Fair, which will explore pastoral life, human–animal relationships, shepherding, and the ecological impact of flocks. Dr. Guinness will open the Fair with her Curator’s Opening Talk, introducing the theme through a selection of nominated titles chosen with her invited readers.
A full programme runs alongside the Fair, including talks, workshops, tours, readings and discussions. Highlights from the Flock programme include two panel events:
• Cowboys & Shepherds, Fieldwork & Studio, with Adam Stead, Orla Barry and Miriam O’Connor
• Of Human Flocks & Other Species, featuring Isabel Nolan, Darren Anderson and Cathy Sweeney (which you can still grab tickets for)
Other events which still have tickets up for grabs include, Exhibiting for Multiple Senses where author and editor Eva Fotiadi and contributing author Renata Pękowska discuss their latest Valiz publication, and Beyond Caring: Para-hosting as Curatorial Escape with Artistic Director of PUBLICS Dr. Paul O’Neill and educator and editor Dr. Gerrie van Noord
Beyond the sales and the talks, DABF25 is bringing a busy lineup of book launches, readings, workshops and tours, plus a new commissioned artwork by TBG+S Studio Artist Austin Hearne. Other highlights will include the return of the National Irish Visual Arts Library and the launch of State, in Relation, a collaborative publication by Nathan O’Donnell, Susan Tomaselli, Oein DeBhairduin, Clare Bell and Sonya Gildea. Creative producer Rita Hynes also hosts a roundtable with zine fair and festival organisers.
The Fair also arrives at the perfect time for anyone in need of unique gifts for the art lovers in their life, with book vouchers also on sale. All events are free, but booking is essential. Explore the full programme and reserve tickets here.
