Dublin’s essential events this weekend – 8//9//10

A DJ battle, a hip hop showcase and club nights to take shelter in during the increasingly cold nights.

Every Thursday at District we’ll be curating a selection of unmissable events in Dublin ahead of the coming weekend. Whether you have an appetite for thumping techno or are craving some hip hop classics we have you covered.

This week we have a DJ battle in Lucky’s that promises to be weird and wonderful, a hip hop showcase including some of the scene’s biggest names and plenty and dance inducing club nights.

Friday 8 November

Nightcap pres Maeve w/ Phil Kieran live, The Drifter & Lil Dave – Kaizen Bar – 22.30 – 03.00

With limited capacity be sure to get down to this one early. Nightcap are bringing the maeve records crew for a heavy night in the Kaizen Bar. Featuring The Drifter & Lil Dave b2b and Phil Kieren also appearing in the night its guaranteed to filled with show stopping tracks all night.

Ying Yang welcomes one of Dublin’s finest and respected homegrown electronic talents R.Kitt to Wigwam’s basement this Friday. Having made an impressive Boiler Room debut at AVA Festival this year and continuing his Dublin Digital Radio residency it’s been a busy 2019 for the dj/producer.

When he’s not crafting his trade in the studio or in the booth, he is also one of the main leaders of national campaign Give Us The Night which was set up to highlight and fight the current state and struggle of creative communities closures due to the governments controlled spread of hotels and student accommodation developments in Dublin City and beyond.

FAC Magazine & Utopia Collective are teaming up for a night brimming with the finest techno, electro and acid & breaks in the Kaizen Bar. Focusing on bringing local talent together in a fully inclusive and accepting environment. The line-up features Yellowbox Soundsystem, Aero B2b Billy Iland and outl1er bwb Max Ivory.

Telephones w/ Peter Curtin & Papa Lou – Yamamori Tengu – 22.00 – 03.00

Inspired by the traditional club gatherings of 1970s & ’80s NYC, Detroit & Chicago. Telephones remembers a time before camera crews, hype DJs & superclubs. Now they are back to Yamamori Tengu after a busy Summer to provide a local line-up. Peter Curtin and Papa Lou will be on duty to provide musical goodness all night.

In their biggest party to date, Bubblegum is inviting Esa Williams to take the reigns for 3 hours in Wigwam. Most notably showcasing his talents on the Dekmantal label, he will be spinning his musical magic from twelve onwards.
