Frank Ocean told Chipotle to “FUCK OFF” and then they sued him

Words: Dylan Murphy

Twitter users have resurfaced a story from 2014 about the Frank Ocean’s controversy with the fast-food outlet.

Frank Ocean doesn’t talk on social media as much as he once did. Now, it’s rare to see a tweet or much in the way of content outside his albums (that usually have years between them). However, once upon a time he was fairly active on Tumblr.

Recently, users on Twitter have been talking about the time he took a check from American fast-food chain Chipotle to sing on a commercial. With the story resurfacing it’s time we look back on what actually happened.

The fast-food outlet recruited Frank to sing on a commercial. It’s believed he accepted the proposal on the commercial on the condition the logo would not be prominently displayed. However, when the final piece emerged the chicken connoisseurs had gone back on their word resulting in Frank keeping $212,500 advance and telling them to “FUCK OFF”.

He shared his anger on Tumblr back n 2014 with a scan of his check with the below memo:

In the end, Chipotle sued Frank after he dipped out of the $425,000 deal. Consequently, Fiona Apple took on the assignment and sang on the commercial.
