Welcome to ‘Heaters’, the essential weekly round-up of the best new music.

Each Friday we curate a collection of must listens to keep you in the loop with the most exciting releases of that week. Ranging from rappers in the Emerald Isle to boundary pushing, experimental producers and everything in between, we’ve got you sorted.

This week sees one of Issue 6’s stars drop a ludicrously catchy banger, the producer behind ‘Mo Bamba’ link with a British rapper and a head nodding remix of a Tyler, The Creator hit.

Danny Brown – uknowhatimsaying¿

A slightly more relaxed outpouring than the brilliantly erratic ‘Atrocity Exhibition’, but still laced with his wacky one liners, ‘uknowhatimsaying¿’ is the latest in a line of brilliant projects from the Detroit MC Danny Brown.

With executive production from the legendary Q-Tip and guest features from the likes of JPEGMAFIA and Run The Jewels, it’s an album to satisfy even the pickiest hip hop enthusiast.

Dennie Valentino – Shift

FaR Collective’s Dennie Valentino has dropped a rhythmic 6 track EP featuring other prominent Irish artists such as BOYW1DR and Txmmy Rose. Filled with catchy wordplay and ear-worm hooks,  it’s not a reach to say Dennie and FaR Collective are up next.

Travis Scott – HIGHEST IN THE ROOM

La Flame has dropped his first official release since 2018’s hugely popular ‘Astroworld’ and it’s worth the wait. Padding out a string led instrumental with his trademark adlibs, Scott hints at his strained relationship with his now ex Kylie Jenner. The track’s atmospheric qualities are mirrored in the clouded visuals and gloomy, otherworldly ambience.

Ama Lou – NORTHSIDE

Ama Lou is back and her new video for ‘NORTHSIDE’ features cameos from Odd Future’s Travis ‘Taco’ Bennett and A$AP Nast. The British singer has an inimitable energy and her latest visuals are dripping in 90s hip hop influence.

With an album teased at the end of the song, it feels as though Ama Lou season is imminent.

Doja Cat – Bottom Bitch

Doja Cat returns with a heavily autotuned, emotive banger. The exaggerated vocals contribute towards what is an ode to her ‘Bottom Bitch’. The accompanying video sees the issue 6 star skating round suburbia and egging cars in a piece with a healthy dose of pop punk influence.

Nonzus Magnus – Swerve

Nonzus Magnus has a nack for creating sonic playgrounds and his latest cut is no exception. ‘Swerve’ is the follow up track to his brilliant ‘Fight Club’ and it features revving cars, dark production and the eerie vocals we’ve become accustomed to.

Che Lingo – Distance

Having ‘Same Energy’ feature in the Netflix smash hit ‘Top Boy’ and receiving nods from Wiley and Stormzy this year, Che Lingo is on course to make a major splash in UK music in 2020.

Che frequently showcases his impressive word play on tracks and while it is present in ‘Distance’ it’s the song’s introspective nature that makes it so engaging. Featuring more melodic tendencies, the single highlights his uncanny ability to make relatable content.

Biig Piig – Roses and Gold

2019 has undoubtedly been a breakout year for Jess Smyth aka  Biig Piig. The singer released ‘A World Without Snooze, Vol. 2′ to widespread plaudits and NiNE8 Collective continue to go from strength to strength with frequent collaborators Lava La Rue and Bone Slim also dropping substantial pieces of work.

She’s continuing her hot streak with another single ‘Roses and Gold’. Premiered on Annie Mac‘s show on Radio 1, it’s testament to the standing she has within the music industry now.

Featuring a funkier aesthetic and her ability to effortlessly move between Spanish and English ‘Roses and Gold’ follows the release of her moody summer anthem ‘Sunny‘.

Aj Tracey – Cat Pack

AJ Tracey is back with a cut throat effort, featuring production from Take A Daytrip – the instrumental genius behind hits such as ‘Mo Bamba’ and Lil Nas X’s ‘Panini’.

‘Cat Pack’ features wild adlibs, haunting synths and sharp lyricism from the Tottenham MC.

Tyler, the Creator – EARFQUAKE (Channel Tres Remix)

Tyler’s latest full length album was his most successful yet and he deservedly reached the number one spot in the US album charts with ‘IGOR’.  Now one of hip hop’s most interesting characters has called on Channel Tres for a housey remix of the lead single ‘EARFQUAKE’. Fleshing out a head-nodding re-work of the track from ‘IGOR’, the Compton producer introduced claps and an infectious bounce to bring a new lease of life to the track.

Skengdo & AM – Brixton Boy Feat. Oxlade and Sneakbo

“I still dress like I’m broke I don’t give a fuck.”

Two of drill’s heavy hitters have recruited Oxlade and Sneakbo for an ode to their local area. Reminiscing over harder times, Skengdo and AM slide over a vibrant beat with gratuitous bars. Despite the track’s matter of fact nature, there’s a hint of swing to it that’ll be sure to prompt plenty of dance floor movements.

Manga Saint Hilare – Outsiders Prayer

Rapid fire spitter Manga Saint Hilare has hopped on a stripped back beat this week. Swapping his trademark relentless flow and eccentric cadence for a more pronounced effort, the grime MC focuses on keeping his head straight despite adversity in ‘Outsiders Prayer’.
