Heaters: best new music this week 8/11/19

Welcome to ‘Heaters’, the essential weekly round-up of the best new music.

Each Friday we curate a collection of must listens to keep you in the loop with the most exciting releases of that week. Ranging from rappers in the Emerald Isle to boundary pushing, experimental producers and everything in between, we’ve got you sorted.

This week has an outrageous amount of top drawer tracks. We have two of Ireland’s top hip hop acts dropping new singles, Mura Masa and slowthai linking for a second time and Dave finally dropped his drill anthem.

JyellowL – Quote UnQuote

JyellowL is truly one of Irish rap’s rising stars. Having had a track feature on the Fifa 20 playlist he’s having a massive year. The rapid-fire MC has released yet another cut that showcases his ear for musicality and impressive flow. ‘Quote UnQuote’ sees the rapper map out his rise and take shots at those wanting success but not willing to put in the work. JyellowL flexes his lyrical muscles on this one, barely pausing to catch his breath throughout. Featuring production from frequent collaborator Chris Kabs, the 808s and head nodding percussion ensures he is seeing out the decade with a bang.

Vegyn – Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds

Vegyn dropped a seventy one, yes seventy one track compilation project earlier this year and so one could be forgiven for thinking that he would take it easy coming to the end of 2019. However his single with JPEGMAFIA ‘Nauseous / Devilish’ came with the news that the eclectic producer would be dropping a full project. The sixteen track offering comes off the back of a blonded RADIO appearance and features a string of spacey, zany cuts. Tracks like ‘That Ain’t No Damn Cat!’ sound reminiscent of a late 90s video game start screen and a number of other efforts continue in the same experimental vein that caught the eye of so many initially.

Hare Squead – Meeting With Myself Feat. Jay Prince

You may know Hare Squead from their hit single ‘Herside Story‘ that later saw American Grammy nominated artist Goldlink hop  on the remix. However after a quieter 2018 the Irish crooners have took it upon themselves to up the ante in 2019.  Having released the head nodding ‘100 Miles’ in January and following it up with a genuine Summer anthem in ‘Petty’, the Dublin duo have kept their hot streak going with their latest effort ‘Meeting With Myself’.

Hot off the back of his star studded collaboration with Tyler, The Creator and Goldlink, East Londoner Jay Prince has been enlisted to provide stellar vocals on the new track.

P-rallel – In Due Time

London producer P-rallel has just finished touring with slowthai and he’s keen to keep the momentum going. This week he dropped a three track EP featuring NiNE8 Collective’s Lava La Rue and House of Pharaoh’s Sam Wise. ‘In Due Time’ is an accurate reflection of P’s work so far. It’s concise and there’s not a moment wasted. Sitting at just eleven minutes long it manages to capture a number of influences in that short time, essentially showcasing to everyone his versatility as an artist.

Clams Casino – Moon Trip Radio

Clams Casino is undoubtedly one of the most influential producers of the decade. Michael Volpe was propelled to the top of blog lists everywhere in 2011 after working extensively with A$AP Rocky. Since then he’s perfected his craft and cemented his place as a genuinely innovative figure.

He’s back with his new eleven track project that draws inspiration from ambient music, contemporary hip hop and drone. In addition to the album launching today, Clams Casino has just unveiled a series of immersive audio-visual pieces for each of the tracks on Moon Trip Radio that can be found here.

Easy Life – Sangria Feat. Arlo Parks

Kick back and add this track to your morning routine. Leicester’s Easy Life have linked with Arlo Parks for a beautifully drowsy effort, the perfect accompaniment for a morning coffee. Parks is currently on support duties for Loyle Carner and Easy Life just capped off a UK tour, both are tipped for a massive 2020 and if this collaboration is anything to go by then exciting things on are the horizon for both.

 Doja Cat – Hot Pink

Having putting a pause on smoking trees to create her newest album, Doja Cat has came through with a more clear and concise sophomore effort. Animated as ever the LA native enlisted Tyga, Smino and Gucci Mane for the twelve track project.

Wiki – Oofie

New York’s Wiki recently became independent and since then he’s been more prolific than ever, dropping a slew of singles over the last few months. Most notably releasing ‘Eggs’ that features production from none other than Madlib. He’s followed the hot streak with his second album, ‘Oofie’ recruiting Denzel Curry, lil Ugly Mane and Princess Nokia for self-released project.

Mura Masa – Deal Wiv It Feat. slowthai

Having already put their heads together for one of the tracks of the year in ‘Doorman’, Mura Masa and slowthai have teamed up once again for a track seeping in 90s Brit rock influence. ‘Deal Wiv It’ is from Mura Masa’s upcoming album. On first listen it sounds like the love child of Mike Skinner and Damon Albarn.

Dave – Paper Cuts

Fans have been craving this one for a long time. Early this year Top Boy star Dave teased a track that saw him rap over a drill beat on his instagram. He’s finally dropped the song and the Mercury Prize winner has some icy cold bars on this one.
