Here are 5 things you can go to on Culture Night this year

This year’s festival will be holding events offline and online

There’s no doubt that this year’s Culture Night will be different. Though much of it will be brought online with virtual exhibitions and streams, there is still a chance to see Dublin’s culture come to life in venues across the city.

Visit the National Print Museum

The museum’s  ‘Lock up’ exhibition will be running on Friday night from 18.00-21.00. The exhibition features prints about lockdown during Covid-19 from artists such as Maser, Annie Atkins and Damn Fine Print.

The Greatest Story Ever Strolled: A guided tour of Temple Bar’s laneways

The Icon Tour begins at the Icon Factory at Bedford Lane, Temple Bar. It is a guided walking tour through the cultural history of Dublin, starting from 1922. It looks at drama, poetry, literature and other art forms that have made Dublin what it is today.

‘Swinguerra’ at Temple Bar Gallery and Studio

 Swinguerra, a film directed by Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca focuses on the Brazilian dance phenomenon of the same name. Swinguerra is mostly performed by transgender and non-binary people, it is a contemporary “art form that calls for liberation and participation”.

The film will be running from 18.00-21.00 in the Temple Bar Studio.

Brick Palace: Building the city markets

This audio tour by art historian Kathryn Milligan takes the listener around Dublin’s forgotten markets. The tours begins in Capel Street and focuses on the 1892 redbrick City Fruit and Vegetable Market. The tour runs all evening from 16.00-23.45

Dubliners by Peter O’Doherty

Dubliners is a photography exhibition by Peter O’Doherty. It takes place in the Brick Alley Café on Friday. The exhibition features photos of Dubliners going about their business in 2019 and 2020, shot of medium format film. It will be open from 16.00-22.00.
