Absolut Are Hosting A One-Off Day Party At Index

Words: Dray Morgan

Absolut X’s clubbing series is returning to Dublin, taking over Index and indicative of the city’s evolving nightlife.

On 11 May, from 13:00 to 18:00, Absolut X continues its contribution to the Irish clubbing landscape at Index. The five-hour day event showcases the burgeoning world of Ireland’s late-night culture, with a headline set from Ewan McVicar and supporting slots from Efa O’Neill and Surka

Recently being voted the 90th best club in the world by DJ Mag, the success of Index has been a prime example of Ireland’s want and need for nightlife liberation. It’s hard not to look abroad and think the grass is greener, because to be honest…it is. Index has been at the forefront of high-quality nightlife, pushing forward the scene and pushing against the restrictions we face in Ireland.

The natural evolution of the Irish clubspace is to mirror our European frontrunner counterparts. The Absolut X series will take one of Dublin’s most prominent night spaces, and expand it to the day. The fortunate souls who have experienced the atmosphere of a day party on the continent, will understand what Ireland is missing out on.

Ewan McVicar’s Tell Me Something Good brought all eyes on him in 2021, now sitting at over 11 million views on YouTube and 76 million streams on Spotify. Building on the success of his sound, McVicar has crafted a catalogue of Detroit-infused techno which can’t help but please the ears.

This comes as part of a larger campaign by Absolut to uphold and celebrate quality nightlife, around the world. With The last instalment on Irish soil seeing Denis Sulta in a D8 garden centre touch down, this one flips the script to an enclosed setting, taking advantage of Index’s world-class sound system.

Changing the narrative with atypical events like Absolut X, looks to push forward the conversation about what should be the norm in Ireland’s electronic and dance world. Promoting safe spaces to enjoy all the facets of live dance music to its fullest potential is the ultimate goal, and we’re slowly seeing spaces like Index front that conversation.
