Irish Gig of the Week: Ahmed, With Love.

Words: Dray Morgan

Jack Daniel’s and District share an authentic love for music culture and we thought who better to team up with to celebrate the best new gigs. Every week, we’re handpicking the must-attend show in the capital, ranging from underground rappers in dimly lit rooms to rising stars on sold-out tour.

Ahmed, With Love. is set to hit The Grand Social on 6 May, accompanied by neo-soul duo Negro Impacto and rapper Curtisy.

This is Ahmed’s first headliner show after becoming renowned for his high energy performances and overall stage presence throughout Dublin.

Nowadays, he balances his creative side with completing his master’s degree in Pharmacy, performing in almost every venue in the capital.

2022 was a prolific year for the rapper, dropping tracks such as ‘Men On A Mission’ in collaboration with producer Rory Sweeney and Curtisy which saw a remix from Kojaque. In April of last year, Ahmed also participated in the Artists Against Homelessness show; a project that saw multiple Irish artists performing in the 3Olympia with ticket profits going to charity.

Last year was also Ahmed’s first festival showing as he performed on the Hennessy Hip Hop stage at Body & Soul festival.

Ahmed, With Love’s inaugural headliner comes only a few days after his birthday, “I can’t think of any better way to celebrate then by getting a live band and throwing a big ol birthday bash” he announced on Instagram.

Joining him for the show is Tallaght-based rapper Curtisy and Dundalk duo Negro Impacto. Curtisy will be sure to bring mellow bars and avant-garde beats as well as Negro Impacto’s soul, bedroom pop fusion, creating a trifecta of excellent Irish music.

Tickets start at 15.00 euro
