5 million streams, but has she even replied to a DM yet? This is actually a bit scary.
The story of artist Sienna Rose has become one of the strangest in the world of music streaming right now. Three of her smoky, jazz-soul tracks have landed in Spotify’s Viral Top 50, with the track ‘Into The Blue’ passing five million streams. But despite the high numbers, and the output of more than 40 tracks released between September and December of last year, there’s no sign of a real person behind them. There have been no live gigs and no interviews. Deezer has even flagged many of the songs as likely AI-generated.
Some listeners have described the music as “uncanny”, saying that the lyrics feel flat and that the vocal melodies are never pushed. BBC Radio 4 broadcaster Gemma Cairney asked whether “some of the soul in soul” was missing, while Selena Gomez briefly shared a video using Sienna Rose’s track before taking it down. Still, the songs are racking up plays, and the seemingly AI-artist insists she “feels real” on TikTok.

With Bandcamp recently banning all AI- generated music, this story has become an stark example of how blurred the line between human creativity and artificial output can and has become.
